简介：1987年香港亚洲电视公司根据正史与民间野史编写了这部剧集，并动员亚洲电视的大部份艺员拍摄剧不但为亚洲电视于1980年代少数打败香港无线电视的剧集之一，1988年香港亚洲电视再次拍摄第二缉《满清十三皇朝Ⅱ》，从雍正到道光皇帝。该剧不但在香港十分走红，也在1980年代末期的台湾录像带界相当具有知名度。1988年引进台湾时，还因其中主角刘永为附匪艺人，被台湾当局列为禁播。该禁播令至1990年代中期才正式解禁。甚至有人认为该剧会如此走红与禁播争议引起的社会话题有关。另外，该剧因为颇具可看性，今仍有不少台湾有线电视台会予以重播。
